Fitness Over 40 – Be Real
By Michele the Trainer
Let’s start at the very beginning.
Michele the Trainer’s 3Ms are:
Those 3 are all about the mindset of all 3. Staying motivated, keeping yourself moving and making good decisions by maintaining a healthy mindset. Easier said than done when we live in a world where we are surrounded by advertising.
For tips, Michele the Trainer’s First Five Tips are:
All of these concepts are good for any age, but now we’re over 40, now what? Let’s Be Real and authentic with our healthy lifestyle choices.
E- Eat Right
Massage was optional before but as we age we need to make sure we are circulating all of our parts and joints. Choose a professional practitioner based on referrals from your friends, family and community. Choose a massage style that suits you.
Michele the Trainer’s First Five Tips encourage both:
Move More; Take a Walk
If it Hurts, Please Don’t Do It
You can go light with gentle yoga or yoga therapy, or even physical therapy. Go moderate if you can and if that’s where you feel great. There is no need for pain, so remember:
If It Hurts, Please Don’t Do It
Exercise should make you feel invigorated and alive, not injured!
Don’t forget that aquatic fitness is also a good choice for a workout or recovery workout due to the hydrostatic properties of water for circulation and the pain relieving properties of warm water for chronic pain, joint pain and arthritis.
Get More Sleep is the second tip of the Michele the Trainer First Five.
Get more rest (go to bed earlier) or take a nap!
E- Eat Right
Eat More Veggies is tip 5 of the Michele the Trainer First 5. You will learn how much better you feel over time. Just start adding more veggies by themselves or recipes that you like.
Be Real. Stay authentic. At our age our peers are doing a lot of injections and lifts/plastic surgery and more procedures with consequence in the name of anti-aging. Be real. Be authentic. Listen to your belly brain and do what’s right for YOU! You do not have to follow the herd. You can age with grace and less trauma and avoid the consequences of elective procedures.
Warm up and stretch. For example, go for a 10 minute easy walk and then stretch yourself. This does not have to be yoga or have any fancy name. You can just simply stretch the parts of your body that feel stuck or knotted.
Be Real. Age with grace and authenticity and Be Real. If you have any questions on any of these fitness over 40 or beyond topics, I’m here for you!
